Event-driven, server side javascript with node.js – Robert Hanacek

Node.js is a server side software system designed for writing scalable Internet applications, notably web servers. Programs are written on the server side in JavaScript, using event-driven, asynchronous I/O to minimize overhead and maximize scalability. In this presentation we’ll compare node’s architecture to the one employed by thread-based concurrency environments, and explore its application development ecosystem.

About Robert: Robert is a co-founder of IdeaLoop, a small mobile application developmentshop. He’s a corporate cubicle refugee who built software for insurancecompanies, retailers, database giants, and small start-ups. Nowadays Robertfocuses on both native and web mobile application development.Node.js is one of the server side tools IdeaLoop relies on to meet the challenges common in mobile context.
