Description: The Rogers Public Library is sponsoring Geek the Library 2.0 Saturday 2/2/2013 from
10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Bring your technology toys and ask our expert GEEKS your tech questions. Try new products like smart phones, tablets, computers, Windows 8, digital cameras, video games, etc. or bring your own products and questions! Area businesses will set up booths to display the hottest, most in-demand new products and let you try them out. You’ll learn about new technology and get advice on how to make your “old” technology work better! The Library
will staff our own booth to help customers explore various tablets, phones, and other devices to show how easy it is to download the latest library E-books and downloadable audiobooks.
Access to technology is what Geek the Library 2.0 is all about. The partnership between the Rogers Public Library and local technology companies/retailers is an exciting new direction for both the library and the participating businesses.

Technology Literacy is imperative in our world! The U.S. Department of Education defines Technology Literacy as “computer skills and the ability to use computers and other technology to improve learning, productivity, and performance.” More than ever, children are growing up in a world where technology is tied to every political, social, and economic decision they make.
Our library is a critical public resource providing computer access and training, job-search assistance, literacy programs, and access to thousands of print and digital materials. The Rogers Public Library is the cornerstone of our community offering services that contribute to a better educated workforce and enhance economic development. Companies participating in Geek the Library 2.0 include, Staples, The Best Buy Geek Squad, Bedford Camera & Video, Samsung,
Verizon, Barnes and Noble and take3.NWA.
